A new year........

......And a new project.  I've been creating and having fun.  It has been some time since I've had time to sit down and consider a new project.  It's interesting, because inspiration comes gradually......one thing leads to the next and the design evolves.  Time only will tell what the final results will be.

I think that this will be the block which will belong in the bottom right hand corner of the quilt.

I'm quite pleased with this block.....and think that this little stripe will be a good sashing.  I would like it to finish as 1 inch wide.  The blocks are 10 inches finished.

Even though I have drawn several blocks, nothing is cut in stone yet.  Perhaps some more new ideas will surface.  I leave early on Wednesday to go to St. George where I will be teaching and doing a trunk show.  I'd like to get a couple of more blocks ready to stitch on while I'm there.  I'm so happy because Chad and Abbie will be going with me.  Chad is still on break from the Univ. of Utah so they are free to accompany me.  They will explore and do their thing during the day and we'll have time to be together in the evenings......and I'll have helpers for my trunk show.  I'm also to give a lecture, however, I don't lecture.  I do look forward to sharing a few thoughts about what quilting means to me, and hope to inspire.

Start out your work week with a happy heart!

  9. And I like Picasso's quote but my favorite (and I'm sorry I can't remember where I got it from) is "It takes a long time to finish a quilt you are not working on".

  11. When i saw your first block before reading the words I thought of Remebrance Day Nov. 11 and the poem In Flander's Field the Poppies Blow...I'm not sure if that is the direction you are heading in but I like the feel you are present.

Enjoy your time in St. George's taching and spending some time with your family and of course stitching!
