......I had a marvelous time, but there is no place like home. I wanted to share this trip with you, but for some unknown reason I can't seem to be able to download my most recent pictures. So I'm going to back up a bit and share with you the amazing home of Beth Anne Smiley. She is the owner of Wheaton Woolens, in Davenport, Iowa. We were thrilled with her wool, but were even more thrilled when she asked if we would like a tour of her home!!
The gardens were lovely....
and the setting was fabulous!
Beth Anne was leaving for a craft fair , so her kind husband was happy to share the home with us.
We stepped back in time.....
There were two sets of stairs. We loved this runner going up the back stairs, and the exposed brick walls.
As you can see, the home is filled with authentic antiques. We fell in love with this Mammie's bench. The baby was tucked behind the rail and then since the bench was a rocker, the babe could be rocked.
There was so much to see, and I was awe struck with it all.
Old and beautiful stitcheries.
This little window seat was perfect for the antique rocking horse.
Situated below were two cloth toys on wheels.
Another doll sitting is this unique old child's chair.
This was a spectacular hand made antique lamp shade. Notice how thick all of the walls are.
This is the other set of stairs. Most all of the hooked rugs on the floors were made by Beth. You can see how old the glass is over the doors......fabulous!
Mr. Smiley had so much history and information to share with us about the home and it's furnishings.
Another spectacular lamp shade, along with a unique base. I will have much more to share with you from this home tour tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Now, it is time to announce the three winners selected for the second Wed. drawing. They are - Gloria Manuel, Ann Hudson. and Joyce Winters. please email me with your pattern selection and your mailing address. norma@timelesstraditionsquilts.com
