A rainy day......

…..In fact, it rained most of the day, and it is predicted that it will rain the next two days.  And this means, more snow in the mountains.  We hope that the snow melts slowly.

"Living in a state of gratitude is the gateway to grace." Arianna Huffington

It is probably quite apparent, but I have been focusing on gratitude, so I will be posting thoughts about that subject.

I have some pictures which I want to share from when our quilt group last met.

Jennifer, had her penny quilt finished.  I love it, and the quilting is wonderful.

Debra, has started working on a design by Kerry Green called Nocturne.  The embellishment stitches are incredible!  Every time I look at the blocks, I see something new and amazing.

Here is another one of the blocks.

Here is Kerry's finished quilt.  We were all awe struck.

Julie, finished appliqueing this beautiful quilt called Golden Days.

This adorable children's quilt was completed by Diane.  She wants to be ready for great grand children when they arrive.

She shared with us that she searched the internet and purchased many of these sweet fabrics that way.

Gaylyn, has 2 new grand babies that need quilts, so she has made these fun elephant quilts.

Leslie, made this little quilt at the request of her grand daughter for a great grandbaby soon to arrive on the scene.

This darling baby sweater was made by Leslie for the expected new grand baby.  She told us that she made the same sweater for her own children when they were babies. Soooo cute!

This log cabin quilt is beautifully dramatic in its simplicity.  Leslie made it for her daughter in law.  It is hand quilted, of course.

This is Leslie's house quilt, which she is in the process of hand quilting.  If you notice, the quilt already has the binding on.  She bastes the quilt, then adds the binding before she starts to quilt .  She has great success with this method.

I have the remainder of the quilts to share tomorrow.

"A life well lived is a precious gift,
of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world
a brighter, better place.

It's filled with moments, sweet and sad
with smiles and sometimes tears.
with friendships formed and good times shared,
and laughter through the years.

A life well lived is a legacy,
of joy and pride and pleasure,
a living, lasting memory
our grateful heart's will treasure."

  2. Great quilts! Interesting method, binding the quilt before quilting it. I've sometimes added quilting after the fact, but never planned it that way. Hmmm.... food for thought!
