Maggie's Quilt

Over the next few blogs I will share with you some of my quilts and projects which have now come home to rest.  This is a quilt from the nine patch book which I was a part of.  I named it after my mother.  Along with it I designed the bolster pillow for the bed.  Quilts give so much warmth and personality to a home.  This quilt especially does because of its association with my mother who is no longer with me.  The small wall hanging over the bed is also a design from the book.

One of my readers responded to me that Pinterest is a sponge of a persons time......I certainly agree, however, it certainly is enjoyable.  There are two tips I tried off pinterest and thought I might share them with you because they worked!  We had a mound of ants which was annoying to us, so we placed orange peels on and around the mound, and in a few days the ants moved on!   Tip number two....my climbing rose was covered with aphids...yuck!  A tip on pinterest told to put liquid soap in a spray bottle, just a tablespoon or so, then add water, shake it up and spray the foliage......24 hours later the aphids were gone.

  5. Very pretty! I think the association with people and events is one of the things that is so special about quilting. I recently lost my mother and look at a couple of quilts I made during the times she was undergoing chemo and during her final days. They being a smile to my face as I remember her enjoying me making them.

  7. What great news that some of your wonderful designs have "come home to rest" and that you will be able to offer them under Timeless Traditions Quilts. I'm happy that I purchased my favorites when you were still getting paid for them. How sad that you don't get to bring all your quilt designs home and that someone else is now taking credit, and getting paid, for your creativity.
