Friends Gathered.....

We had a party.....it ended up into one anyway.....I decided to cook a turkey with the trimmings and have a few friends over to celebrate life.  This is a rhubarb berry pie and it is one of our favorites.  My daughter Abbie who has always been interested in cooking, snuck this recipe out of a magazine in a Doctor's office.  I want to share it with you.
double pie crust
1 1/2 cup fresh or frozen rhubarb
1 cup sugar
3 Tab. tapioca
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1 cup strawberries
1 Tab. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. vanilla
dash of nutmeg
Mix and let stand 15 minutes, stirring once.  Pour into the prepared crust and dot with butter.  Cover with the remaining crust and bake for 50 minutes at 375 degrees.
I had some raspberries so I threw them in too.  The mixed berries one can purchase at Costco work as well.

Now for the cake.  I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to give it a try.  It is a keeper.  It is very moist and delicious.

1 lemon cake mix
1 3 oz. instant lemon pudding
1/2 cup sugar
4eggs
1 cup peach nectar
1/2 cup veg. oil

Mix all ingredients together and bake in a well greased bundt pan for 45 - 50 minutes.  Cool 15 minutes in the pan before removing.

Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup peach nectar
1 Tab. lemon juice
1 tsp. lemon peel

poke holes in the cake with a fork and drizzle glaze over the cake....Yum!

Let me introduce my grand dogs to you.....they are real darlings.  Oliver is on the right and Annie is in the back ground.  They are both rescue dogs and have brought all kinds of joy into our lives

Tucker their sort of cousin, and for sure friend also came with Steve.  He too is a rescue dog and is so sweet.  I love how he has his front legs crossed so gracefully.

Despite all of this cooking, I've also been finding time to sew.  I have a new quilt bound and ready for the pattern, which I will show you tomorrow.

We are busily cutting kits for How does your Garden Grow......many of you have asked about a kit for that one, and they will be available soon.  Some have asked about a kit for the Liberty table runner.....I hope to get those kits underway this week.

Have a great day.  We have blue skies and sunshine here today and bird song fills the air....I can here them even with the windows closed......so much to rejoice about!
