Quilts of Valor

Happy New Year!

Barb Jansz of Elizabeth, Illinois shared with me a wonderful project their Friendship Quilt Guild accomplished
this past year.  Their group made 16 quilts to present to veterans.  Some of these men served in the Korean, and the Second World War.

Thirteen veterans were wrapped in the warmth and comfort of quilts made for them by the Friendship Quilters.

One by one the veterans were called forward to receive a quilt and their service records were read.

A picture is worth a thousand words......they were thrilled.

Three of the quilts were presented to the wives of veterans as Comfort Quilts.

The Quilts of Valor program was started in 2003, and has donated 100,000 quilts to service members.  This would be a worthy endeavor in the new year.

New Years day was another wonderful family time for us.....family and furry friends spent the day together.  We ate well, watched football games, napped and I stitched......so relaxing.  I've drawn out a few new blocks and am starting on a new project.  I'll see where it takes me.
