Show and Tell continues...

I want to inform you that yesterdays blog has been deleted by request from Sue Spargo.  Debra Hale has been working on a project of hers and she does not allow pictures of her work to be published on a blog, Pinterest or the like.  I certainly did not intend to offend her in any way and was not aware of her stipulation.  Usually designers are pleased when their work is shared with others as long as they receive the credit, as it tends to draw people to their web sites and promotes their business.

Moving on....Valerie has made a lovely quilt, which she stated was a Silver Needle design.

Valerie's quilt received many ooohs and aaahs when she shared it with us.

On a cold and blustery evening, we enjoyed a bit of spring.

As you most likely noticed each side has a different design, and I've given you a close up of all 4 sides.

I love this buttery shade of yellow....

And the bright golden sun warms the soul.

I have also been working on a new table runner......and this is it in its early stage.  It is rather a long one, because I wanted it for my long table, however it could easily be shortened by eliminated some of the center block.  It is needle turn applique.......Oh My!  my design wall looks quite hairy.  :-)

  1. It's funny about Sue Spargo since before I even scrolled down to read about the quilt, I knew it was hers. The birds were an absolute giveaway!

I also wanted to let you know that I saw your "My Country Tis of Thee" quilt kitted up in Keepsake catalog. Very good!

Your table runner looks gorgeous as usual. Love the design! Simple yet beautiful!!

  2. oh Norma I can't wait for the table runner...I like long ones! Someone else told me about Sue's stipulation but I didn't know that and she has never contacted me as I have shared many photos from workshops...I wonder if something has happened to change the thought process? And, her stitcheries are all over Pinterest...it is hard to stop a flood of quilters who love a designers work, lol Valerie's project is wonderful!

  3. OMG...love this one, Norma!! haha as if you haven't heard that from me before!! Designers who don't want their work on blogs?! Go figure?! How do we find out about their patterns? They are missing out on a HUGE amount of FREE exposure! Oh well...their loss!

  4. Please pass along to Valerie how lovely her quilt is and just that fresh breath of Spring that we long for this time of year when winter seems to be endless. It made my day, thanks for sharing! Rita Nichols

  5. That is lovely and I must hunt it down! I have to admit that Sue Spargo seems a bit out of the loop if she doesn't want pictures of her projects on the internet. The pictures on her patterns leave much to be desired and I had no interest in any of her work until I saw the possibilites of them on the internet. As my dad says, each to their own.

Keep up the good work Norma!

  7. Hi Norma, I hope you won't think poorly of Sue Spargo. She has a lot of students who spend a lot of money to participate in her block of the month. One of the neat things about it is that she keeps her patterns secret as she goes along. At the end she publishes her patterns for all. It's not that she doesn't love to see her inspirations turned into beautiful art. In fact I have taken a class with her and found her to be incredibly supportive and thrilled to see her students creations. She is a kind and generous person, and a very astute business woman. By the way I am in no way affiliated with her!

  9. Just to clarify, Sue stipulates that her BOM participants cannot have pictures of their piece shared on any social media until after she publishes the design to prevent copycats from using her design before she has the copyright which seems fair. That pattern should be available this May and then pictures will be okay.

  14. Ooooh--the table runner is wonderful! I just returned from a retreat where a friend was stitching on Sue's latest BOM. She said it was part of the "rules" that no pictures would be posted. Personally, I love that you share your design process, but sometimes it's hard waiting for the finished pattern!
