Mable and Ethal.....

Our next stop came in Sandusky, Ohio  which is located on the shores of Lake Erie.  There is a great little shop there called M & E Quilt Shoppe.    I first met the two shop owners a little over a year a go in Pittsburg at spring quilt market.  They were just opening their shop.

We knew we had arrived at he right place when we saw their two cars parked beside the shop.

The name Mabel and Ethel came about because the two of them as friends had jokingly referred to themselves over the years as Mable and Ethel.

The shop is located in this charming location which is also on the National Register of Historic Places.

At the Pittsburgh market, I loaned them this table runner which is one of my designs, for a sample for their new store......and there it was hanging on the front of the checkout counter.

When we arrived a class had just finished up on making umbrellas...how fun would that be.

The store had a lot of good things packed into their space....

and something for everyone.

There was an interesting wool corner, with many samples filling the area.

I was happy to see Mr. McGregor's Garden completed and sitting on the shelf.

I fell in love with these 2 simple banners made from wool.

Mable is in the pink....and Ethel in the purple....they are absolutely delightful ladies with a great sense of humor.

The picture behind the counter.....Mabel and Ethel of course!  Best friends after all these years.  :-)

Setting the mood for Autumn......and Ohio is beautiful in the fall.

The girls making Bruce feel appreciated!!  He loved it.

A block from their store, down at the harbor.  The view of Lake Erie was beautiful.  They shared with us about the great little fish restaurant located there.

I added the two fabric pictures later and this is where they ended up.  My purchase from the sale fabric....love them!

My other purchase......I love scissors.

This statue made from chains pays tribute to the Underground Railroad which Ohio played an active part in.  It is not uncommon to see a lighted candle in windows still today.  It is a warm and welcoming look.

This little park was located just off from the harbor area.

To set the record straight, I goofed on yesterdays blog......the store name is the Woolen Needle.
