Sharing the JOY!

Graduation Day for Chad Tengler, Abbie's dear husband and who we proudly claim as son!

Today, all is gloomy with a lovely gentle rain falling to water Mother Earth.  However, on Friday graduation day all was blue skies and sunshine, with nothing to put a damper on our day for celebration!

Chad with his very proud parents.

It was also a proud moment for Grandpa.  We are so pleased that we could gather as families united with our love for Chad and each other.  Our thoughts always go to Ohio, and the missing ling to our family....our son Ben.

As we listened to the many address that were given by many different students and distinguished faculty, we were amazed by all of the numbers and statistics given......all interesting, but what struck a chord in our minds and hearts was the simple words spoken by the woman chosen to deliver the commencement address.  The Honorable Nancy E. Rice, Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court, offered a short but eloquent message without notes, which sunk deeply into our minds and hearts.  She shared about growing up in a small town in Wyoming and living not far from her grandfather who was a bailiff  for a judge in a small town in Trinidad, Colorado.  She graduated from the University of Utah Law School in 1975.  Her parting words were....."How you spend your days is how you spend your life.  Make every day count!"  The voice is loud and clear in my mind that I need to do something with those words for Chad.  I wish I did calligraphy, but perhaps I need to hone in on my stitching skills which leave much to be desired.

This is going to be a very busy and special week.. Friends are arriving in S.L.C. for the International Quilt Show and Market.  I have many details to cover to be ready for the event.  My two daughters and their husbands are hosting a dinner for a few of my friends who will be here.  We are hoping for favorable weather and pictures to share with you, so that you can join us from afar!
Enjoy your days in this new week.

  1. Congratulations to your "son". Hope your week goes well with everything you have planned. I'm guessing there won't be much sewing going on, but having family around will make up for it.
