After leaving Nebraska and heading into Iowa, Our stomachs were telling us it was time to eat! When we stopped for gas, a local person suggested the Rusty Duck...…..stating we couldn't go wrong...…..well, we did! We were craving a fresh green salad, we received out dated lettuce from a bag:-( We struck out. How about a baked potato with butter.....NOT....unpleasant tasting margarine.....things were looking bleak!!! The steak we split....just passable. Disappointment abounded! Onward we went and scored with frozen custard at Culvers. We were able to turn our frowns upside down!!!!
Whoops! I think my thumb got in the way...… we were happy to arrive at the Woolen Needle just as they were opening. This is a marvelous quilt shop in Williamsburg, Iowa. Just stepping through the door, my heart began to pitter pat in high speed. My respiration's increased, and I felt intense joy. This marvelous shop is also just off I 80 and located in a darling little town. I've thought that I could consider living here.
These are the 3 inch stars that are quite popular now.....just so sweet!
Oh My!!! Where to look first with so much goodness to see.
Their specialty is wool, but there is just bunches of other enticing things.
They also specialize in their own designs.
I loved the wall hanging centered around The Fruit Of The Spirit, those virtues we all strive for.
Gorgeous!
Wool and more wool....projects for rug hooking.
I'll let the projects speak for themselves!!!
I will close with this verse taken from a stitchery done by a 9 year old girl in 1824. Her name was Mary Morrison.
"Virtue's the chiefest beauty of the mind,
the noblest ornament of human kind: Virtue's our safeguard and our guiding star,
that stirs up reason when our senses err."
The Woolen Needle is my favorite shop and we stop there often while traveling on I-80. I see from your blog that I need to return - it is always full of great projects. Thanks for sharing.
