Discoveries....

I've been sorting through my quilts....refolding, and rediscovering.  I found 2 quilts I had forgotten about....they were a total surprise when I came upon them....Does that mean I have too many quilts?  More like I've been making them for a long time.

1999 is the date on the label of this quilt.  It was a sampler class I took from Jodi Warner, teaching various techniques.  This was a delightful discovery and brought back many memories.....immediately I thought back to how old my children were, where we were living at the time, and the list goes on and the memories surface.....a walk down memory lane.

This little Amish quilt was tucked away and forgotten....I think it is even older than 1999.  I made it around the time Sue Benders book came out entitled "Plain and Simple".  She spent time living with the Amish in Iowa, and shared her thoughts and reflections from that experience.  I was so thrilled with this find that I immediately found a place to hang it.

I cleaned and organized my sewing room yesterday...there was just so much going on that I couldn't focus on anything......now its clean and tidy and ready for action.  I have a new idea on the drawing board....it will be called Goin'  Fishin'.  I hope to pull fabric from my stash for it today.

Hope there are some good times in your week end.

  1. This same thing happened to me a few days ago. I came across a small Amish style quilt I had made and totally forgotten, but imediately brought back the memory of why I made it. It was for a guild challenge oh so many years ago. The one thing about that style of quilt is that they are timeless with their solid colors. The one I found could have been made yesterday! I wish I had put a label on it but I know it was 'last century'. :-)
