I had 2 full classes for the Navajo Code Talker quilt, with approximately 20 ladies in each class. It is always so very interesting to see the variety of color palates. This sweet lady even had a bird pin cushion to match her blocks.
Everyone got right to work and the blocks started to collect on the side walls of the class room.
Pat, the lady who made this block is going to make 4 quilts...the extra ones to give to her children. Her husband has passed away and she is cutting up some of his slacks and suit pants into strips for the quilt.....along with flannels . This way her children will have something wonderful, which will also be a keepsake from their Dad. A quilt with a story, and precious memories.
New friendships were made and other friendships continued and expanded. I have decided the thing I enjoy most is spending time with remarkable women.
The bears were a nice addition. We talked about the variety of ways that this design can be expanded upon......by adding arrows to some of the strips......rows of suns....black birds etc. etc........the ideas are endless.
Today is the day for my monthly drawing. The 3 winners chosen for this month are....
Charlene Rose
Jennie Adcock
Ora Bridges

I love seeing all the versions of Navajo Code Talker! I plan to get started on my version at a retreat this April--still have to decide on my fabrics and now it will be even more difficult, but fun too!
