….. in between the rain showers. A pleasant contrast, reminding us that life is a mix of both!
While in Amsterdam, we visited the art museums there. They of course were amazing, especially seen through Jess's eyes who majored in art, with a minor in photography. The morning we left, we snuck in a visit to Rembrandt's home. It is pretty much just as it was.
Where his paint was mixed.
An area where he taught students. The room had wonderful natural lighting.
Beautiful windows with shutters, and I loved the green front door.
From Amsterdam we caught the train to Leiden, where the Keukenhof tulip gardens are. Abbie had us booked into another quaint place to stay. I walked in the front door and immediately saw a quilt design. They were original to the house which was from the 1600's.
Almost immediately I saw the stairs! As you can imagine with these tall skinny houses, no other stairs would work. I'd take these stairs over an elevator any day. We had bunches of room and comfortable beds, a washer and dryer to clean our cloths, because we were traveling very light. And that is the very best way to travel.
Here was another section of tile...… another quilt design.
And I loved this reminder hanging on one of the walls.
And isn't this a kick. Prince Charming peering through the window. The house had a little court yard in the middle of the house. This was a little window from a half bathroom. We were out there visiting when Bruce opened it and gave us a shout out!
The nest morning we went to Keukenhof. What a delight that was.
Breath takingly BEAUTIFUL!
And, here are our two lovelies! What a joy it was to travel with them and their husbands.
These Red Baby Dolls looked more like roses than tulips.
These also.
Aren't these just lovely? These would also pass for roses, except the foliage gives them away.
I'm sorry my sister wasn't with us to enjoy these tulips!
I've been reading in a book about happiness. I will share some of it in installments as I go.
"I once read an article about a crowded little island. It turns out that everyone in the world, including you and me, has visited this destination several times. The island is called the Someday I'll - and many people who go there never return."
Stay tuned, more to follow.
I thought the tulips looked like peonies. Gorgeous! I think my husband checked into Someday I'll and he can't find his way out! Lol!
