Tis the Season!

The Witch is in.  I've wanted to make this for quite some time, but just haven't found the time.  However, my friend Trudy made it, and just in time for Halloween.  She shared it with us when our quilt group met a while ago.  When I woke up this morning I found myself thinking of days gone by......and snuggling up with my children and reading Halloween stories.  We had to snuggle up....you know, for safety!  One of our favorites was the Ghost Eye Tree by Bill Martin Jr., and John Archambault.  This book has absolutely amazing illustrations which will put you in the mood to snuggle with a child.  This might be a good place to interject that it certainly would be nice to have a grandchild to snuggle with.  Are you hearing me kids?  I was fortunate in that all of our 3 children loved books and enjoyed reading. I had a Jack-o-lantern quilt that helped set the mood.  Now my friend Charlene is sharing it with her little ones.  The thought of this makes me very happy.  I will have her take a picture and I will share it with you tomorrow.

I was sent the following today and thought I would share it with you.  It is quite long, but I believe you will enjoy it....good words to live by.  "I firmly believe in small gestures, pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, overtip, smile or try to be kind even when you don't feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid's run away ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are - particularly when it's difficult.  People do notice, people appreciate.  I appreciate when it's done for me.  Small gestures gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain ("I'm not a big one for paying compliments..."), but the irony is that almost every time you make them you feel better about yourself.  For a moment life suddenly feels lighter, a bit more Gene Kelly dancing in the rain".   -Jonathon Carroll

  1. Thank you for sharing those great words to live by. I'm happy to say that I've had the opportunity to do many of those small gestures, as well as been the recipient of them. Feels great either way!
