We are having gorgeous weather. It is another blue sky day with sunshine just beginning to rise over our mountains to the east. We have a long time tradition in our family.....when the kids were little I would announce the first snow of the season by having them wake up to Christmas Carols. Well, today I was awakened to a call from my daughter Abbie in Ohio, who is carrying on the tradition.....and when I answered the telephone.....I heard Happy Holiday playing. It brought back all kinds of sweet memories of years past. It also made me think, where has the time gone to so swiftly.
.
I collected a lot of beautiful wool at market and have since sent for more and kits for the Silent Night Quilt will hopefully be on my website by the end of the day. The kits include 2 inch strips required for the log cabin border. I've estimated how many inches would be required, however, if you are short you may need to add a few. I've just gone through my homespuns and cut 2 inch strips and have tried to cut a variety of lights and darks.
This evening my newly married daughter and her husband Jess are coming for dinner. She has requested a roast beef with roasted vegetables. So I'm soon off to the grocery store to pick up some new potatoes, onions, carrots and parsnips.....and some apples for apple crisp for desert. Jess who is a professional photographer is going to attempt to help me figure out a few things on the computer and my posting of pictures. I understand there is a learning curve to most everything, and my learning curve seems to be unending....I hope to shorten it to night.

This is such a beautiful quilt. I love all the animals in it...even the skunk :-)
ReplyDeleteThank-you.
DeleteYour "first snowfall" tradition is lovely. Children hold those memories in their hearts long after all the "stuff" of childhood is gone.
ReplyDeleteWe all had phone calls back and forth about the phone call with the Christmas music. It made us all very happy.
DeleteI message my brands ,they know so much more than I do
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely quilt! The homespuns make it so cozy. So nice that you daughter carries on the tradition even though she is grown and no longer lives at home.
ReplyDeleteYes it is! I like her believe some of these traditions are very important and need to cont. It's part of our story.
