Today we honor our Veterans

Veterans Day honors the service of all military veterans.  It is observed on November 11, and marks the end of world war 1, which formerly ended at at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.  In other parts of the world this day is called Armistice Day and Remembrance Day.  In Europe the red remembrance pappy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem "IN Flanders Fields".  These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War 1, their brillant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilled in the war.

Freedom In America

Freedom in America
Isn't really free.
We often pay a price
To keep our liberty.

Remember those we loved.
who fought for us and died;
And those we never knew
For whom others mourned and cried.

Freedom in America
Isn't really free.
It's up to American patriots;
Its up to you and me.

-Taken from a poem by Joanna Fuchs

Today as we pay tribute to all veterans I want to give away the above pictured pattern to the first 3 people who email me at -    norma@timelesstraditionsquilts.com

Also, remember this Wednesday is my day in which I will draw 2 names for the snowman patterns.  Remember to email me to get your name in for the 12 days of Christmas drawing coming up in December.  I am collecting some great prizes......Enjoy your day.
