Isn't it beautiful? Yes it is a winter wonder land! There is nothing like the first snows of winter. They are simply exhilarating! The snow here just stays where it lands, because there is usually no wind with it. We all are hoping for record snow fall to fill our reservoirs with water in the spring.
It's time to enjoy the winter time quilts. This quilt was in a book by Red Wagon called Snow Bound. Jan Patek must have had a hand in the design, because it has the little snow children she uses today in many of her designs. I checked out the label, and I made this quilt in 1993. I believe it was one of my first attempts at appliqueing. According to the label, that was the winter of the big snows. The snow was over my 6 foot husbands head along our driveway.......it made shoveling difficult, but was a great winter for skiing. All 3 of our children were skiing by then and it made for some good times........and now sweet memories.
Here the quilt is placed over the back of our most favorite napping chair. We recline and tuck ourselves in........it's all part of living the good life. I have valued the advice from Winnie the Pooh when he said, "Lets begin by taking a smallish nap or two".
