How Does My Garden Grow...

I thought I'd share my little garden area with you this morning.  Before we downsized into a smaller space, I spent the majority of my time gardening.  It was all very lovely, but all consuming.  Now I'm as snug as a bug in a smaller space.....and an abundance of time to create, and read, and contemplate life.

My porch....not the kind where you do front porch sittin!

This little green carrier, held patterns at market.  It is multi tasking.

The walk way from the street to my door.

The back yard and the small patio area, where I enjoy reading every morning and having a cup of coffee, contemplating life and listening to the birds sing.  The patio table that you can just see, was a gift from my Dad before he passed to better and greater things.

This little hanger which Bruce devised a way of hanging on the fence, adds a bit of color.

My son in law Chad devised this planter deal for me while he still lived here.  It holds my birdie things....and has a Virginia Creeper planted in the base.

I love this planter I picked up for a song a few years back, and I'm waiting for the plants to thrive and grow, and cascade over the sides.  I've planted a bunch of ferns to fill in the corner here under the deck.  All in all, it is small, quite minimal, but a little haven which we enjoy.  In our situation, less is more.  This is how my garden grows.......:-))

We do have a pot with a tomato and basil out in a sunny spot.......but mostly we enjoy visiting the local farmers market.

"It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end".    -Ernest Hemmingway.

I'll be back tomorrow to announce the winners in the drawing....and then I'm off for adventure.......and quilt stores!

  1. Love your garden spaces. I enjoy your blog immensely. You are in my opening page to check everyday. We too have downsized to a much smaller house and yard. It's mostly container gardening for us. We do have a small garden area. We are on the coast and have a wonderful patio (larger than the house) that overlooks the bay. Enjoy your trip away with friends and come back with the pictures. I do look forward to your travels.

  3. We will be down sizing in the next two years. What a pleasure to see your little garden. I love flowers but as I get older it becomes more work and less fun. You have found the happy medium, that inspires me, thank you.

    1. I'm happy that you found inspiration. I haven't once looked back and wished for more. It was a great decision for us.
