Cleaning and Decluttering.....

It is Spring and I've been in the mood to cleanout and cleanup!  I really cleaned my sewing room well a couple of weeks ago, and its a mess once again.  However, some major organization still remains with the mess.  As I check out my closet after I cleaned and sorted there, I realize that less is more......it's more because now I can see what I really have.  And the exciting part is that I've discovered items I forgot I had.  I thought I'd share this advice for cleaning....
1. Is this item something I use regularly?
2.  If not, is it something I love?
3. Am I holding on to this because I think I should love it?
4. Am I keeping this out of obligation or expectation?
5. Am I saving this just in case?
6. Do I have multiples of the same thing?
7.  Could something else I own do the same job?
8. Am I holding on to a broken item to fix someday?
9.  Is this item worth the time I spend cleaning/storing it?
10.  Could I use this space for something else?

After reading this I have made a list of other items that need to go!

In the cleaning and sorting process I came across a couple of quilts which I haven't looked at for a good long while and thought  might share them with you today.

This quilt called Noah's Ark is a design by Country Threads........I am so sad they are no longer in business as it was one of my all time favorite places to visit while back in Iowa.  I worked on the applique of this quilt while I was with my daughter Katrina in Cancun in 2006.

Radio Flyer is the name of this design by Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie's I love having this quilt out for summer months.  It makes a nice backdrop for patriotic items as well as an excellent quilt for napping! :-)

"Finish each day and be done with it.  You have done what you could. some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.  Tomorrow is a new day.  you shall begin it serenely and with too high of a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."    -Emerson

  4. Yes! I've been sorting through my "stuff" as well... it's amazing what a person thought was so important to have, can become not so important with time... Love that Radio Flyer quilt! It definitely has Summertime written all over it!
