Back to quilting,,,,,,

....I have a few more photos from market to share today.

A few pictures taken in the booth of Blackberry Primitives.  When we ran into them in Stillwater, this is one of the boxes they purchased for their booth......a nice addition!

Tanya and Cindy offer beautiful wool and cotton velvets.  I bought some velvet from them to make some antique looking stuffed animals.  Now I just need to find the time to make them.

These gals are talented and very kind and generous.....:-)

There was a booth of antique quilts......I wanted to take each one off the rack and examine them closely.

I really loved this block and am thinking I should make it with the yellow and cream fabric which was given to me at the retreat in Zermatt.

Here is a new idea......Deidra of Hat Creek Quilts from Australia staples her applique in place.  She does beautiful work, and says this method works great for her.

I have just finished reading a novel called the Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline.  I really  enjoyed it.  This morning reading out on my patio, I jotted down this bit from the book.  "Upright and do right makes all right.  As if joining scraps of fabric to make a quilt.  Molly puts them in the right sequence and stitches them together creating a pattern that was impossible to see when each piece was separate."  Molly is making sense of events in her life.

"Every day that we wake up is a good day.  Every breath that we take is filled with hope for a better day.  Every word that we speak is a chance to change what is bad into something good.
-Walter Mosely

  1. Lovely photos, lots of inspiration. Never thought of staples to hold those pieces in place. I read the Orphan Train recently and loved it. A great summer read.

  2. Hi, I see Mary Koval in one of your pictures. Are the antique quilts from her booth? They are wonderful!

  3. I also staple my wool applique after I glue them in place. The glue keeps them removable until I get the layout just right. I learned this technique from a couple of Australian quilters also ... The Quilted Crows, Leonie and Deidre
