A quick trip.....

Bruce, has always said that I have a bit of gypsy blood, in that I am always ready to pack up and go some where.  So when he told me he would be leaving around noon on Friday to make a quick trip to Las Vegas for a business meeting, and he asked if I was interested in going with him.......I didn't hesitate long.  It certainly is not my choice of destinations, but I know they have fabulous restaurants, and that I would have undisturbed time to read and stitch.  So I quickly gathered up some stitching and reading material in my main bag and I was nearly ready to go.

And......then I remembered that I would need a few things to wear and my toothbrush.  We were off!  I enjoyed having this uninterrupted time with my husband.  After arriving Friday evening we had marvelous Mexican food at the hotel, and then went window shopping and people watching.  Abbie, reminded me that everyone seems to be their most extreme self in Las Vegas.

Bruce, always the sensible one chose the savory crepe and then I suggested, I will have a few nibbles off yours and then I will share my cream cheese filled crepe with fresh strawberries with you!  It was a perfect start to our day.  There was much more delicious food consumed before returning home on Sunday.  I finished my Susan Branch book, and now I'm missing it.  I started reading another book and forgot to stitch.

I had mentioned to Bruce on the way down that I needed a hair cut and that perhaps I would pursue that on Saturday.  This is the salon which was located in our hotel.  A haircut by Chistophe was 700.00 dollars.  I gasped and decided that I could wait!!!

I wanted to share this one more thing from the retreat at The Country Sampler.  Jeanie sold these wonderful plate holders for a buffet type meal.  And in the spirit of saving the planet these metal pie tins were used for our meals.

And then I have this picture of the amazing dinner we had the evening we visited J.J. Stitches in Sun Prairie.  I have thought about it often since returning home..........tilapia with a buttery caper sauce and shrimp wrapped in bacon on the top.  Garlic mashed potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts with a balsamic glaze.....YUM!

  1. Thank you for the lovely travelog and for the quote by Edith Wharton. I am reminded of her wisdom every time that I sit in the audience of a good performance and provide applause.

  2. What a fun display with the tulips, flags and pie tins.
    A $70 haircut? Now my hairdresser's prices seem downright cheap. : )

  3. Where did you eat that wonderful meal in Sun Prairie? I have enjoyed seeing the photos you took at Country Sampler and at JJ's. We are not too far from Sun Prairie would like to know where you ate.

  4. It's a good thing I just had lunch or I would be drooling into my keyboard! $700 would buy a lot of fabric--good idea to pass on that haircut! Have you read Susan Branch's book about her trip to England--so charming!
