I long to reconnect.......

..........with needle and thread.

This is a new design I've been working on and only  have 2 blocks completed.  I have a partial tear in my right rotary cuff, and I am right handed.  You wouldn't thing that stitching would be a problem, but it most definitely is.  So all of my many ideas have been put on hold.  I'm hoping to teach this at in a retreat by Blackberry Primitives next Autumn.  In the mean time I continue to do physical therapy.

A few close up looks......unfortunately it also shows just how stringy my design wall is.

These blocks definitely look like simple folk art designs compared to the quilts from China which I will finish up sharing today.

Just Lovely!

The work is very intricate.

There are women the world over who wish to create, to have something to show for their work......because I have discovered that the cleaning and cooking etc. is never finished! :-)

  1. While the Chinese quilts are beautiful, I love your new design! The background fabrics you used are fabulous!

I hope your shoulder heals quickly. P/T exercises are usually no picnic ...

  2. Great new design and wonderful soft, muted colors. Wasn't it M.E. Hopkins who said, "A design wall covered in thread is the sign of a happy quilter." Perhaps I'm wrong on the author, but it's true just the same.

  3. I love this folk art quilt! Can't wait to see the finish, when you are able to get to it.
Can totally understand how your shoulder issues hamper your stitching. Just yesterday my doctor cut me loose from going in for physical therapy for small tears in my left rotator cuff. I have been going for a year!! I kept reaggravating it, and ended up with frozen shoulder and then tendonosis. It was not a normal recovery. I wish you better than that. : )
Those Chinese quilts are beyond amazing!
