A continuation of the amazing quilts.....

which we saw while at Quilt Market in Houston.

I love the old scrappy make do quilts, and this quilt is just that.  I also love the red.

This would make an interesting border on a scrap quilt.

These are quilts found in many of the vendors booths.  There are usually a few of these Whig Rose quilts, at least that is what I believe they are called.

Notice the incredible hand quilting.....enough to knock your socks off.

I've always been drawn to these red and green quilts.

Robbing Peter to Pay Paul......I believe is the name of this 2 colored quilt.

I've always admired pineapple quilts, and now I hope to make one with my new Bloc Loc ruler.

This is just the quilt top, not yet been made into a quilt.

I am always drawn to Log Cabin quilts, and found this one done with the narrow solid color logs no exception.  I especially loved the fabric she chose for the back.

I believe the maker must have run out of solid fabric, because there is this one section with a print.

An interesting combination for this Log Cabin.  I love the red plaids and stripes in this quilt.

I've decided I really enjoy quilts that have red and cheddar in them.

This picture is out of order, but it gives you a better idea of the over all look of the quilt.

This marvelous old wonder shows quite a bit of ware.  However, someone worked tirelessly to create this beauty.  It looks like it is the black fabric which was inferior, because most of the other fabrics are intact.

I have to share this wonder which the girls at Grand Country Quilters made for me........I'm in love with it.  First of it is on a rotating base that turns with ease!

It has a surface made for ironing.....

And then you can cover that surface with a small cutting mat.  It worked so famously for trimming down these blocks from a strip piecing project I'm working on.  The strips are added to a foundation muslin piece and the excess needs to be trimmed off.

A slight swivel of the board, made it so easy to trip the excess, and end up with a perfect 6 1/2 inch square......and a pleased smile on my face.  If you would like having one of these, they offer kits with all the material to cover and make your own.  Simply call Grand Country Quilters in San Marcos, California.

We all have the capability to some little thing to meet the needs of those suffering and without. It seems that at this time of the year we are reminded of those who are homeless and hungry.

  1. So many beautiful quilts, but the log cabin with the black logs really caught my eye. I guess I tend to overuse black in my quilts. : )
    Very clever little turntable gadget.

  2. Love the block in the first picture. Can't remember the name, Snowflake or something. Anyway, I am enamored with the fabrics and the placement. It makes me want to go downstairs and rummage through my reproductions fabrics. I've got a number of old FQs that I've been saving for a special project. This might be it!. Oh yeah, gotta get the house ready for Christmas. . . maybe later.
