Just a quick peek.....

...at what I've been working on before I continue sharing quilt photos.

I'm just about there.  One more little block and the center is complete, except for sewing the blocks into rows and then the rows together.  Then on to the border, which I am excited about.  I need some new designs to offer for some retreats which I've been invited to teach at.  The patterns will be first offered at the retreats.  One will be Primitives of the Midwest, which will be in August, and then I've almost completed my project for the one being sponsored by Blackberry Primitives in Lincoln, Neb. in October.  Then I'm considering France which will come up in April.  My mind is on over drive!!!

Now, for more of the excellence from the show in Houston.

As you can see, we have another beauty from the hands of Ms. Laverne Mathews.  Like me you may be wondering just how many quilts this talented quilter has made.

This one is a real beauty, the kind that has you standing back and oohing and aahing.

Antique....and absolutely lovely!

Fabulous...right!?  The kind of quilt most of us make in our dreams.

Ode to the daisy!

My how these quilts represent hours of stitching!

We can all identify about searching the quilt stores for a few more perfect fabrics that we just can't live without.....compare this to our ancestors, who history tells us sent bits of fabrics through the mail, took apart old clothing to selvage the less worn fabric so that no fragment would be lost......working on the principle of waste not - want not.

Striking.....is the first thing that comes to mind.  The daisies quilted into the background is just perfect.

Stunning!

A fabulous original design out of Japan.

Blowin' in the wind of May.

Sounds like the suggestion of an innocent child!

"I'm beginning to recognize that real happiness isn't something large and looming on the horizon ahead, but something small, numerous and already here.  The smile of someone you love, a descent breakfast.  The warm sunset.  Your little everyday joys all lined up in a row."  - Beau Taplin

  1. Your quilt is so lovely. I wish I lived near quilter's like you to learn techniques that require more than sewing a straight seam! Ha! Lovely and I look forward to this pattern.
