This spot is located 5-10 minutes from my house. It is located in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The picnic area close by is called Ledgemere.
This is Big Cottonwood Creek which is running beautifully with the melt off from the mountains.
I took these photos standing on a bridge which enables us to cross to the other side to the picnic area.
We had a bonfire, did the usual...roasted hotdogs and marshmallows. I had made fresh chocolate chip cookies for smashing the marshmallows in between.
This is where we escape and find solace from the busyness of the day. I find this quote is appropriate for today! "Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature - the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter." -Rachel Carson
Lucky you to live so close!
ReplyDeleteGayle...I do feel fortunate to live where I do, however, in my travels I've discovered there are many beautiful places that I could call home for one reason or another!
