To Love and be Loved

The wedding day has come and gone and we have of so many memories tucked away to relive in the days to come.  There will be many more photos to follow, hopefully tomorrow.  Here is the culmination of...."Jess, you may now kiss your bride".  This brought up cheers from those attending.  Shortly after this there was a boom of thunder followed by rain!  Umbrellas were passed around and we rushed to our cars.  The celebration afterwards was held in a lovely restaurant...and the dancing continued until the wee hours!  Bruce and I left at 11:30, me with sore knees and aching hips, and he feeling quite chipper. We were told by Katrina and Jess that it was just the best, and we could see everyone was having a great time so we were happy at this point to find our way home and chat back and forth about the highlights and breath a sigh of relief that all went well despite the rain.  Several couples told us that rain was a sign of good luck as they had been rained on at their weddings and after many years they still are happily married.
I think I will share this little story.  Some young women soon to be married asked Marjorie Hinckley a lovely women with a sense of humor who had been married around 70 years,  "Will you give us advise on marriage"?  Her reply, "Don't have such high expectations". She really did hit the point.....there will be disappointments, struggles, mountain and valley experiences, sunshine and, yes RAIN. It just takes commitment by two people!
"To love and be loved is the greatest joy on earth."
