The show and tell begins...

Every year Amy gives a free quilt kit.  This year we received this container full of the strips pictured below.  The theme of the retreat this year was vintage....thus the strips of thirties reproduction fabrics.

At the beginning of the retreat we were given these notebooks.

The best part of all was that the notebook has graph paper inside.  This will go in my purse to have handy in my travels!  The cover has pockets to keep a pen and a small ruler.....such a good and useful gift for quilters.

At our parting dinner on Friday evening, we were served these pin cushions on an antique depression glass plate, which Amy and her sister have collected while antiquing.  They were all a variety of depression glass.  We were also given many other gifts throughout the retreat.  A vintage tea towel, a collection of recipes put together by the staff at the store, hand croqueted scrubbies, and a couple of charms to add to the bracelet we received a couple of years ago while attending the retreat.

Here are a few samples that the staff at American Quilting made from the kit we were given.

They are all wonderful, but I especially love this one.......the blue is so vintage looking and such a fantastic contrast with the fabrics.

This example and the one below are both great ideas also.  I love the randomness of the one below.  Life is very good at the quilting retreat that is held every year in the charming town of Midway and at the lovely Zermatt Hotel.  Lucky for us who were able to attend and be the recipients of the many gifts and to spend 4 days sewing with other quilters, from various places.

I forgot to share this picture yesterday.......tulips and 2 containers with candy, and all displayed on a vintage table cloth.

I hope you are beginning to experience the warmth of the sun and the specialness of those first days of Spring.

  1. I always carry a small pad of graph paper in my purse - sure comes in handy for sketching quilt blocks and other ideas!
