The time had come......

we began our quest for fabric!  A dear friend who I've not yet had the privilege of meeting sent me a two page outline of where to shop and where to eat. Ann, we took your advise and shopped for fabric where we had never gone before.  Burkholder's was our favorite also......and we went over the line into Maryland and ate at the Shamrock Restaurant and had a lovely meal.  Now back to the subject at hand......fabric, a girl's best friend!:-)

And what a pile of fabric I came home with.  Here it is as I unloaded it from the extra duffel bag I travel with.  I came home inspired to make an Amish quilt and a quilt commemorating Gettysburg.

One morning after breakfast, we found this tight ride in the parking lot.  Trudy was the first to claim it.

Yesterday I mentioned shopping in Gettysburg.  This is the print I purchased.  "We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.  That this Nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.  And that Government Of the People, By the People, For the People, shall not perish from the earth".  I have it hanging on the wall already, and am thrilled to have it.

In our wanderings we passed through this covered bridge.  We spent time on the roads less traveled and that made all the difference.

Rolling hills and lush green countryside....

In the distance is a mill placed by a river

This is the Revere Tavern which we had dinner at.  It dates back to 1740, and was a stage tavern and was known as the better inn along the 60 miles from Philadelphia to Lancaster.  This was later the home of the Edward Buchanan family in 1841.  Eliza Buchanan was the sister of Stephen Foster whose immortal songs will always be part of America.  In 1854 the home was purchased by Edwards brother, James Buchanan, the 15th president of the United States.

And then back to our rooms, however we all ended up in one room for stitching or simply doing nothing.

"That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet".    Emily Dickinson
