Day 2

Today I'll give you a peek at the shop we visited on our return trip to Portland.

The side effect of visiting this shop was HYPERVENTILATION!  If you love antiques and fabulous folk ark and hand crafted loveliness, this is the store for you.  Notice the great old bobbins which form the base for these pin keeps.

There were many amazing Harold Turpin houses.  He is a local artist in Washington and makes these wonderful handcrafted barns and houses. Most of them feature a quilt design and light up inside.  When looking through the lit windows, one can see the quilt hanging on the back wall of the inside of the house.  Julie and Jan were on the hunt to purchase one of his creations.

Nothing warms and inspires me like old quilts....the labor of love still remaining of some crafty lady with a story to tell.

I had Jan pose for a picture so that you will know who I'm referring to.  I am so happy that our paths crossed.  I do not believe I've seen this quilt pattern before.

I was in awe of this bench which makes into a table.  I would have been delighted to have brought it home with me!

This 2 colored quilt was in great condition and was hand quilted.

What a charmer!

Pictured here is one of Julie's houses lit up and bringing us cheer in the house where we were staying.

And the fabulous barn with the hand crafted goats and sheep.  Their outsides are covered with raw sheared wool.

"Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduation, the weddings, not the great goals achieved.  The real milestones are less prepossessing.  They come to the door of memory unannounced, stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit and simply never leave.  Our lives are measures by these."
