San Diego bound......

I hope everyone had a marvelous Labor Day week end.  I spent my week end getting some applique ready for stitching.  I can't leave home without some hand work.  I will be gone next Wednesday when my monthly drawing should take place.  So, it will be held the following Wednesday on the 16th.  I will be teaching in San Diego and also at Grand Country Quilts in San Marcos.

This little quilt is now quilted and bound and ready for me to write the pattern.  I believe I will call it,  Life is a Patchwork.  The pattern as well as kits will be available in the near future.  I have to stay home long enough to get it done.

This is the next project I've been working on.  It is made from all cottons, but the circle and star could easily adapt to wool.......as well as the holly and berries.  The quilt will also have an applique border of holly, berries and stars.  I have them ready to take with me....hopefully I will get the applique completed so that the pattern will be ready for you to complete by Christmas.  However it is the type of design that will be good for all of winter.

I will be making kits for this too.

My sweet friend Kassi Ancell sent me this photo made from one of my patterns called Pot of Posies.  Thanks for sharing Kassi.

Today I want to share some photos from my sisters cozy country home.  We spent 2 nights with them on our return trip from Ohio.  This is the guest bed which welcomed us.  Oh, how I love a nine patch.

My sister is a enjoys stitching......just like me.  I love this counted stitch alphabet picture.

This is a tulip which our mother croqueted for us.......the apple didn't fall far from the tree.  Our mother enjoyed hand work too.

A wonderful Bears Paw hanging over her couch....available for napping!  :-)

I've always loved this apple quilt in her kitchen eating area.

She made this Yes We Can quilt which is also one of my patterns.

I'm always drawn to this beautiful red piece of furniture, as well as the croqueted Fresh Eggs Sold Here ....with the basket of eggs close by.

She is one of my best supporters.......as this is one of my designs too.

She and I both love houses......love this rug.

Here is a braided rug which she made when she was first married.  She collected old wool items from thrift stores.  It's lovely.

For quite some time my sister used to visit an elderly lady at a local nursing home to play scrabble with her.  When she passed a way this is a quilt which she purchased on her estate auction.  It was a quilt made by her mother.

This picture shows how no fragment of cloth was discarded.......piecing scraps for a large enough scrap for the quilt.

This is a Pine Tree quilt my sister made years ago.

I made this quilt for my sister many moons ago!

And this is her lovely home.

My next blog should be posted on the 15th.  And then on the 17th I will be gone again.  I am going with some friends to Columbus Ohio for The Country Living Fair.  Until the 15th....keep stitching!  You may have come to the conclusion that I am feeling much perkier. :-)

  1. First off, your new quilt designs are gorgeous! You come out with new projects faster than we can stitch them and they are all wonderful! These are both stunning! I really enjoyed visiting your sister's house. We can see that you both have inherited your mother's love for sewing and hand work!
    Have fun in San Diego!
