Woops!

Life just seemed to pass me by yesterday.  That is what happens when I get too busy.

I decided that today I would start out with my quote.  I read first thing every morning while I enjoy my cup of morning coffee.  I read this bit of wisdom this morning and decided to share it.

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he's been robbed.  The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are most often dull than otherwise.  Life is like an old time rail journey...delays...sidetracks, smoke dust, cinders and jolts.  Interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling burst of speed.  The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

- Gordon B. Hinckley

I'm back bouncing around through my downloaded photos, and have this amazing utility quilt.  Basically just denim with a bit of color here and there.  I've often considered making a quilt like this for picnics and such....and having a section that includes the zipper, where you could have a safe place to tuck away car keys etc.

This would remind one of a Gees Bend design.

The quilt was hanging in a hallway so I couldn't get a straight on shot.

This quilt was hanging in the Country Sampler in Omaha, Nebraska.

What a great cozy quilt for when the occasion calls for
something to be produced quickly.

Several different winter scenes surrounded by random placement of fabric.

We were visiting there proceeding Halloween, and I am always delighted by this witchy quilt that has been around for a while.  You can see some samples for other creations going on in this lovely shop.

For you stitcher's who love to embroidery here is a Redwork Sampler.

A soft, beautiful creation by Miss Rosie's.

Unfortunately because of my travels, I've missed the second Wednesday drawing for the month.  Today, I offer this pattern for the first person to respond with a quote which has inspired you.  Send to, norma@timelesstraditionsquilts.com

Enjoy the moments!

  1. I am so grateful for your generosity, Norma, with your patterns & scraps. I'm not responding to this opportunity for another beautiful pattern. I believe I've won enough lately. From all of us quilters that read your blog, thank you! Love your shared quote and here is one from George Harrison that I discovered yesterday on my birthday: "All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece but not too much"! ♥

  3. I don't know if this is considered a quote or not. but I love the Serenity Prayer. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
The courage to change the things I can, and The wisdom to know the diffrence.
