This week is flying by.........

…….perhaps because I've been having so much fun creating!  I temporarily became distracted from making more kits, because while at the upcoming quilt retreat which I will be attending, I will be having some free sewing time, so I must have something ready to wok on!

First of all I've wanted to make a string of stars, and with Valentines coming up, I got after it!  I think these will look good hanging in my kitchen all year long.

A little closer look.  I will be making a pattern for these and making a few kits to sell when I go to retreats and if anyone who reads my blog wood like a set.  If interested you may contact me, send me an email.

This is the first year that I've had this quilt at home for my table.  It is called Love Birds.

The heart bowl fillers are from my pattern, called gathering hearts.
These are stuffed will fiber fill, but I am going to refill them with cracked walnut shell.  I asked my sweet helpful husband to stop by the pet store and get me some cracked walnut shell.  He did, a big huge bag of them.  More than I will use in a life time.  I like how the hearts lay in the bowl with walnut shells.

This is a new quilt I have started.  I was inspired by an antique quilt that Barbara Brackman  had in one of her books connected with the Civil War.  I have been looking at it for a few years, and decided that this was the time!  I will be making it 5 blocks by 5 blocks.  I'm making it to hang over my fireplace, I'm thinking of the time frame of Autumn into winter.

This is part of the creative process!  I've been digging through my scraps to make this quilt.

This is my messy cutting table in my sewing room.  I have another place I cut, where I have a huge table.  That is where I cut kits.

Another big pile of fabrics I've pulled.  Oh, what excitement!

And here is the pile of strips for my potholder quilt!

This is as far as I've come on this project.  The last block is the Partridge in the Pear Tree.  I'll also be able to work on this.  I usually bring more sewing than I manage to accomplish, but One must never run out!

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer.  Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."
-Harriet Tubman
And this quote brings to mind, that we need to be the change we wish to see in the world.

  2. Your Heart String is lovely and I love your bowl of hearts too. The picture of your cutting area looks familiar. Mine looks a lot like yours, right down to the blue rotary cutter!
